    Design and development of smart emergency light

    The demand for electricity is increasing day-by-day and frequent power cuts is causing many problems in various areas such as household, domestic, farms, etc. Due to limited amount of power generation at power station and due to shortage of non-renewable sources, uninterruptible power supply being a biggest challenge in the entire world. In this paper, a smart emergency light is designed, developed and tested for use it in various applications such as home, industries, agricultural sector and shops, etc. The developed energy lamp has no running cost and has low initial cost. The main objective of this work is to provide the smart emergency light with solar power to the farmers. This work will help the farmers in many ways such as protecting the fields from yield animals. It can also be used as emergency light and entertainment, etc. The main applications of this work is that it can used as FM radio, USB charging, music by memory card, mini fan, torch light, etc. This can also be controlled by remote. The battery can be used for all these applications. This battery can be charged by two ways using solar energy and AC mains supply. The developed lamp is tested in the real time environment

    An improved closed loop hybrid phase shift controller for dual active bridge converter

    In this paper, a new closed loop hybrid phase shift control is proposed for dual active bridge (DAB) converter with variable input voltage. The extended phase shift (EPS) control is applied when load gets heavy enough and the secondary side phase shift angle decreases to zero. When this modified DAB converter operates at light loads, the triple phase shift (TPS) modulation method is applied, and the added control freedom is the secondary phase shift angle between the two-secondary side switching legs. The hybrid phase shift control (HPS) scheme is a combination of EPS and TPS modulations, and it provides a very simple closed form implementation for the primary and secondary side phase shift angles. Depending on the application by changing the phase shift angles we can achieve Buck or Boost operation. A characteristic table feedback control method has been used for closed loop operation. By using 1D look up table the proposed DAB converter provides constant 400V for any given input voltage

    Significance of abdominal manifestations in dengue fever

    Background: Dengue Fever is an Infectious condition caused by flavo virus. It is an epidemic since 4 years and its prevalence is increased in the recent years in India. The increase in India is due to rapid urbanization, population growth, increased international travel and global warming. But dengue fever is now being reported from rural backgrounds due to poor sanitation and stagnant water sources.Methods: This is an institutional cross sectional study in which we took patients presenting with fever and various other complaints related to viral fevers for 9months from 2016 June to March 2017 at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Ongole. In this study we included patients who are NS1 Ag positive and dengue ELISA positive only. We excluded whose NS1 Ag test positive but their dengue IgM ELISA report is negative.Results: In this study we have included 94 patients of all age groups who are diagnosed with dengue fever. Next in the list are nausea/vomiting (43.6%) and diarrhea (40.4%) respectively. We highlighted this in conclusion to consider abdominal manifestations association while evaluating pyrexia patients.Conclusions: As usually fluid management and regular monitoring is the main role in the management of dengue cases than platelet or blood transfusions and antibiotics. We concluded that there is significant association between abdominal manifestations and dengue fever. So abdominal manifestations should be considered while evaluating pyrexia patients to rule out dengue association in those patients and prognosis of dengue fever

    PROTECTIVE ROLE, IN -VITRO FREE RADICAL SCAVENGING ACTIVITIES OF ALANGIUM SALVIFOLIUM (LINN) AGAINEST CCL4 INDUCED HEPATIC DAMAGE IN RATS

    Many hepatoprotective herbal preparations have been recommended in an alternative system of medicine for the treatment of hepatic disorders. There are few or no systemic studies have been done on the protective efficacy of Alangium salvifolium (Alangiaceae) to treat liver diseases. Hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity of ethanolic extracts were evaluated against CCl4-induced liver damage in rats. Liver damage was evidenced by elevated levels of biochemical parameters such as serum glutamate oxaloacetic acid transaminase, glutamate pyruvic transaminase and serum alkaline phosphatase. Treatment with ethanolic extracts of Alangium salvifolium (300,500mg/kg, p. o.) produced a significant reversal in the above biochemical parameters, and reducing power, superoxide anion scavenging activity and reduced histopathological scores. These findings suggest that extracts of Alangium salvifolium possess significant hepatoprotective and antioxidant properties

    Assessment of risk factors in cardiac failure after myocardial infarction

    Background: Cardiac failure is a clinical syndrome that may result from any structural or functional cardiac disorders that impairs the pumping ability of the heart. Post infarction cardiac failure is one of the common complications of Acute Myocardial Infarction which is influenced by factors like extent of MI, Life style, associated co-morbid conditions.Methods: The present study comprises of 50 cardiac failure patients with history of MI in the past and who presented with myocardial infarction with cardiac failure were included in this study. This study was conducted at Rajivgandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa, YSR District, Andhra Pradesh. The study was carried out for a period of 2 years. Informed consent was taken from each and every patient included in the study.Results: In our study 42 (84%) are males and 8 (16%) are females. Out of 50 patients 37 (74%) are smokers and 32 (64%) are alcoholics. In our study maximum number of patients i.e. 60% of the patients are sedentary in nature. Among 42 male patients 28 are having WHR >0.9 and 8 female patients WHR >0.8 is quite significant.Conclusions: Post MI cardiac failure is more common in males and sedentary lifestyles. Smoking, alcohol consumption and associated co morbid conditions have linear relationship with incidence of post infarction Cardiac failure. Abdominal obesity has positive effect on incidence of post MI cardiac failure

    Microsatellite Instability in Colorectal Cancer

    Cancer is a genetic disease. Cancer cells contain various mutations, which includes SNPs to chromosomal aberrations. Together, these changes are referred to as genome instability. Genetic instability is one of the common characteristics of colorectal cancer. In colorectal cancer three major types of genetic instability have been reported. They are chromosomal translocations, microsatellite instability (MSI), and chromosome instability (CIN). Microsatellite instability occurs due to variations in DNA mismatch repair genes, while chromosomal instability is distinguished by major chromosomal alterations occurring at cell division and usually involves β‐catenin and Adenomatous polyposis coli protein (APC) mutations.
